North Lake Tahoe ski resorts are reporting more than 1 foot of snow in the last 24 hours, while a new storm system is headed toward the region today, followed by another possible system moving in Sunday.

   A San Francisco 49ers fan who has a seizure disorder has sued the football team in federal court in San Jose for allegedly refusing to allow him to bring his service dog into the stadium in November.

James Robert Hilburn of Placerville alleges the action by 49ers security guards and police at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara violated the U.S. Americans with Disabilities Act and a California civil rights law.

   The local racing community lost another legend when Gene Welch died earlier this month after a long illness. He was 90... Welch owned Welch Racing Enterprises in Orangevale and helped dozens of drivers over many decades with either full or partial sponsorships.

Rick Poppert, former director of racing at All American, said he started racing against Welch in 1968 when the track was still dirt. The asphalt wasn’t poured until 1970. He remembered Welch as the guy to beat...
