Saturday, Nov. 15 is opening day for commercial Dungeness crab on the West coast and to celebrate the occasion the El Dorado County Fair Association is having its ninth annual Crab and Chowder Gala at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds, 100 Placerville Drive in Placerville.


Doors open at 6 p.m. for this all-you-can-eat feast of the first and the freshest Dungeness crab available.


In addition to all-you-can-eat crab, Old Town Grill will provide its delicious clam chowder plus there will be pasta, green salad and bread. Remember to bring butter warmers.


Enjoy a no-host bar and participate in the silent auction and raffle, with many great prizes donated by local community businesses. There is also a dessert auction table for a treat after dinner or take a memorable dessert home for the family.


To work off the crab or dessert, local band, Rebel Stoke will be playing classic rock before and after dinner.


Tickets are $45 per person and available at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds office, 100 Placerville Drive in Placerville, on Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., at Cool Feed and Ranch Supply in Cool or online at www.eldoradocountyfair.org.


Proceeds from this event help maintain the fairgrounds.
