A lockdown/shelter in place was implemented yesterday at approximately 4 p.m. for Gold Oak School after a parent arrived on campus allegedly under the influence, made threats, and left.

All safety policies and lockdown procedures were followed, and students and staff at after-school athletics and the Extended Day program remained safe.

Law enforcement was notified and responded to the school immediately, where they remained in direct contact with school officials.

The suspect was located and taken into custody around 9 p.m.

All school classes and activities are continuing in their normal fashion today.

“Please be assured that the safety of our students and staff is our first priority.  We are grateful for our staff and our local law enforcement for ensuring the safety of our staff and students,” said Superintendent Wendy Neade.

I had friends on campus at the time that were totally unaware of any lockdown...yikes.

If the school was on lockdown the entrances starting at the road should of been blocked by authorities until all children were picked up safely by parents. Just my opinion.
