Yolo Superior Court Judge Samuel McAdam found that Lucas was out on bail with drug charges pending in El Dorado County at the time of the Yolo County offenses.

A Yolo County jury returned the guilty verdict against 28-year-old Jesse Lucas on Friday, according to a Yolo County District Attorney’s Office news release.

The jury heard evidence that on Feb. 6, 2015, a Yolo County sheriff’s deputy contacted Lucas in the parking lot at the Yolo County jail, where Lucas said he was waiting to pick up a friend. Lucas appeared nervous, leading the deputy to believe he was hiding something, authorities said.

The deputy informed Lucas that, as a visitor to the jail, he was subject to search. Lucas agreed to be searched, and the deputy found 7.8 grams of heroin, an unregistered loaded .380 automatic handgun and $7,500 in cash. At the time, authorities said, Lucas was prohibited from possessing a firearm because a restraining order had been filed against him.

Judge McAdam is scheduled to sentence Lucas on March 10.
